How To Draw Pikachu
This tutorial will show you how to draw pikachu. Pikachu is a cute creature, and it's important to get the general shape and proportions right at the beginning. You can do this by making the head and body roughly the same size. The head shape is a little squared off as you can see, kind of like a piece of toast. The openings on the outline for the head are for the ears. The body shape is like a rounded W.
In the second step, we add the facial features. Make sure to color in part of the ears; don't just leave them as an outline. The nose is more or less a small dot, and the eyes almost look cross-eyed. Getting the pupils in the right position is very important, because the eyes are usually the first thing your viewer will look at. Take your time, and make sure they are both the same size. Notice that there is a line in the mouth that indicates depth, separating the tongue from the inside of the mouth. Finally, make rings for his cheeks. Remember that one of the cheeks is on the far side of the face, so we should not be able to see the complete circle.
Add his hands and feet here. The three "fingers" in the middle should be the same size, and are just small triangles. Notice how the "thumb" and pinky are thrust away from the other fingers, and have a slightly different shape. Try to make the spacing between the toes uniform.
The tail is the only part of Pikachu that is not round. This jagged lightning shape makes an interesting contrast with the rest of the character. The tip of the tail is larger than the rest of it.
Some fun facts - Pikachu is one of the most famous characters in the Japanese animation called “Pokemon”. Pikachu is a type of mouse - “Pika” means the sound of lightning, and “chu” means the squeaking sound a mouse makes in Japanese. It was the 25th pokemon created. It’s 0.4 m tall and weighs 6 kg. It stores electricity in its red cheeks while it’s sleeping, and it shares energy and gives power to other weak Pikachus by giving them electric shocks. Ouch!
