How To Draw A Face
This tutorial will teach you how to draw a face. The face is the part of the drawing your viewer will spend the most time looking at. You can draw faces confidently through practice and remembering a few tips. First, draw a line down the middle to ensure your face is symmetrical. Non-symmetrical faces, with the exception of certain monsters, will look terrible.
When drawing the face from the front, remember the following:1) The face can be divided into 3 equal parts: 1) hairline to eyebrows, 2) eyebrows to bottom of the nose, and 3) bottom of the nose to the chin.2) The face is 5 eye-widths wide, and there is one eye-width between the eyes.3) There is one eye-width from the bottom of the nose to the eyes.4) There is one eye-width from the bottom lip to the chin.5) The eyes are halfway down the head. Many beginners draw the eyes too high on the head. Remember: half the battle is in retraining yourself to see. Take nothing for granted, and observe carefully.6) Try to draw the eyes with a highlight where possible.
When drawing the face from the side, remember the following:1) Draw a line straight down, and make sure it meets 5 points: the forehead, bridge of the nose, bottom of the nose, indentation between the lips and chin.2) The top of the ear lines up with the eyebrow.3) The bottom of the ear lines up with the bottom of the nose.4) The front of the ear lines up with the middle of the head.
