Dynamic Angles
By Loston Wallace
When drawing comics, it's important to draw an interesting image with dynamic angles. Look at the difference between the original image and Loston's changes. The original image is drawn well, but looks kind of flat. By changing the angle of the "camera", the image becomes much more interesting to look at and loses the "flat" look. One of the things my art teacher always told me to do was to constantly compare my own drawings to those of artists who are better. The next time you look through your favorite comic book, pay attention to the perspective of the drawings. I guarantee you'll see a variety of angles, from above and below. That's what keeps the reader interested, turning to the next page.
See the difference between these images? Learning to draw the head from various angles is crucial to drawing good comics.
